Valencia County commissioners approved two related road actions: accepting five roads in the Tierra Grande Association for county maintenance and approving the vacation of five interior roads in the Sierra Madre Unit 1 subdivision.
Public Works requested the county accept the Tierra Grande roads—Alala Alaloop (southern portion), Frachada Circle (eastern), Trampas Drive (entire), Lavonne Loop (western) and Aborta (western portion)—for inclusion on the county maintenance list. Staff said the Tierra Grande Association typically provides annual funds (approximately $60,000) that can be used for materials to bring the roads up to county standards; the public-works director recommended approval and commissioners approved the combined action items 6–10.
On the Sierra Madre request, County Public Works reported that the five interior roads in Unit 1 (Rock Peak Road; Sloping Meadow Lane; Rising Moon Lane; Sunset Meadow Lane; Overlook Drive) were created by plat but show no existing development or present public need, and review staff recommended vacation. Applicant representative Larry Gugino (Glosson Real Estate Investment LLC) said the intent is to return the subdivision to its original recorded plat and noted surrounding owners retain access (including parcels with access to Manzano Expressway and Monterey Boulevard); staff said existing easements created on the original plat would remain in place. Commissioners voted to accept the freeholder's report and approve the vacation.
Both motions passed on unanimous votes recorded by the clerk.
