City staff told the Mount Clemens City Commission that a recent work session produced a consensus to divide the city into 10 sections of roughly equal sidewalk length and to randomly select a section to begin a sidewalk-repair program.
Officials conducted the random draw at the meeting and selected Section 1, which staff said lies within the Seminole Hills subdivision. Staff said work would not begin immediately; notices to residents and contractor scheduling are expected after July 1, and residents will be able to hire the city's contractor for private repairs when the contractor is in their area.
City staff asked residents interested in repairs to notify the city when the contractor is present. The commission said information about the program and notifications would be posted in the city's newsletter and online prior to construction.
