Mount Clemens commission adopts agenda and approves IAFF contract, minutes and invoices

The Mount Clemens City Commission adopted the meeting agenda, approved prior meeting minutes and voted to ratify a tentative collective bargaining agreement between the city and Local 838 of the International Association of Fire Fighters.

A motion to adopt the agenda was made and seconded and passed on a roll call with all named commissioners recorded as voting in the affirmative. During public participation, resident Rick Block said he had difficulty locating a recent work session on the city website and said a recommendation made at that work session did not appear in the minutes. Administrative staff responded that no formal action was taken at the work session and that work sessions do not carry formal action.

On the agenda, commissioners approved minutes from Nov. 17 and Nov. 21 (regular and work sessions) and the Nov. 28 work session after a seconded motion and roll‑call approval. The commission then approved a tentative collective bargaining agreement between the city of Mount Clemens and Local 838, effective July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2019; the motion carried on roll call. The meeting also approved purchases and payments of invoices after a question about a vendor entry (Mount Clemens Tree Service) was clarified.

The votes on the listed motions were recorded by roll call during the meeting; the clerk read commissioners' names and each response was recorded as 'yes' for the motions passed. The city manager announced a Dec. 19 work session to review the 2016 final audit and public fundraising for a MacArthur Park canoe/kayak launch was highlighted during the manager's report.
