At the March 5 meeting the Mount Clemens City Commission approved several resolutions and routine items on unanimous roll-call votes.
Grant and match: The commission authorized submission of a Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) Trust Fund grant application to reconstruct Jones Street at MacArthur Park and approved a resolution committing a $75,000 local match for the project. City staff said the city is eligible with an approved five‑year parks and recreation plan and noted MDNR Trust Fund applications are due April 1 with a maximum grant award of $300,000 and a minimum local match requirement of 25%.
Procurement and payments: The commission approved purchases and payment of invoices as presented. A commissioner thanked utility supervisor Eleni Bertrand for a memorandum explaining the selection of the second‑lowest bidder over the low bidder.
Appointments and consent agenda: Appointments to city boards, committees and commissions were approved, including two downtown DDA appointments (Vito and Strolles) and confirmation that Steve Staff will remain on the DDA. The consent agenda was approved by roll call.
Outcome and next steps: The grant application will be prepared for submission by the city; if MDNR funding is awarded the $75,000 local match is committed by the city as recorded in the adopted resolution. Procurement approvals proceed per staff recommendation.
