The Mount Clemens City Commission recognized a local Buffalo Wild Wings outlet for what the coalition called “excellent compliance” with state laws prohibiting the sale of alcohol to minors and heard a presentation from Turning Point on services for survivors of sexual and domestic violence.
Nicholas Hunter (speaker 3), identified in the meeting as representing Buffalo Wild Wings in Mount Clemens, accepted a certificate of compliance from the Mount Clemens Community Coalition for Youth and Families and was thanked for his establishment’s employee training and for having “no current violations.” The coalition said the certificate, dated 04/02/2018, acknowledges the restaurant’s role in keeping youth safe by not providing alcohol to minors.
Karen Bates Geiger (speaker 8), speaking for Turning Point, outlined the nonprofit’s emergency support, preventive services and a forensic nurse examiner program for survivors. “Today, you can contact our crisis helpline and speak with a trained advocate who can help you assess your danger and safety plan with you or even offer you shelter if need be,” Bates Geiger said, and she distributed cards with Turning Point’s crisis number, 463-6990, and pointed listeners to turningpointmacomb.org for event details.
Bates Geiger also urged local leaders to wear teal ribbons during April for Sexual Assault Awareness Month and described upcoming community events such as a craftivism evening at Grace Episcopal Church and other survivor- and community-focused programs.
No formal city action was tied to either presentation; both were acknowledgments and community outreach items on the agenda.
