Mayor John Leach Jr. welcomed Mikey Mariskow as Show Low’s new community services director, saying Mariskow took over the role in May and will oversee parks, events and recreation programs.
Mariskow, who told listeners he started with the city in 1996 and was hired full time in 1997, said he previously served as the parks and facilities maintenance supervisor. “So back in May, I took over as the community services director. Previously, I was the parks and facilities maintenance supervisor. I actually started with the city in 1996, got hired full time in ’97,” Mariskow said.
Mariskow outlined several upcoming events he will manage, including the Show Low Rodeo, Easter events and the Show Low Barbecue/anniversary. He said the barbecue this year will incorporate the nation’s 250th anniversary. “We’re getting ready for the Show Low Rodeo, the Easter events… we’re planning for the Show Low Barbecue/anniversary and this year is the 250th anniversary of the United States,” Mariskow said.
He also named senior supervisors who will support his work: Grace in public information, Miles at Show Low TV, Kendra at the library, Terry at recreation and Becca in aquatics. “We have good supervisors for every department… they’ve all been great and super helpful, and we’re moving forward,” Mariskow said.
Mayor Leach praised Mariskow’s transition to the new role and said he looked forward to working with city staff over the summer. The segment concluded without any formal vote or personnel action recorded during the conversation.
