Kenilworth council approves consent agenda, authorizes application for $300,000 sewer truck grant

The Kenilworth borough council approved its consent agenda on a single motion that included a series of contracts and grant-related authorizations. Councilman Boyle moved to approve Resolutions 26-80 through 26-92; the motion was seconded by Councilwoman Giordano Picerno and passed on a roll-call vote with all members recorded in favor.

The finance chair, Councilman Morrow, flagged three items on the agenda: Resolution 26-86, which awards a contract for the borough’s holiday decorations; Resolution 26-87, which approves a contract to replace windows at the senior center using a community development block grant; and Resolution 26-92, which authorizes the borough to apply for a shared-services grant to purchase a $300,000 JetterVax sewer truck for the Department of Public Works. "Resolution 26 92 authorizes the borrower to apply for a specific shared service related grant to purchase a $300,000 JetterVax sewer truck for our DPW use," Morrow said.

Morrow also reminded residents that free assistance is available for seniors and certain disability recipients completing property tax relief forms at the Cranford Regional Information Center. The council did not debate the consent items individually during the approval; the chair said each item will be reported in full later in the meeting.

The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Councilman Boyle and seconded by Councilwoman Giordano Picerno and passed by unanimous voice/roll-call support. The council said the items will be documented in the minutes and reported individually in full.

Next steps: the borough will proceed with the contracts and the grant application process for the JetterVax truck; staff indicated further item-level reporting would appear in subsequent records.
