House Bill 2203, which directs the Arizona Department of Education to review and identify statutory reporting requirements for public schools that are duplicative, expired or obsolete, received a due-pass recommendation following adoption of a technical amendment.
The bill requires ADE to submit a report to legislative leadership by Dec. 1, 2026, outlining the review and any recommended legislative actions to consolidate, eliminate or modify reporting requirements. A two-page technical amendment presented to the committee was adopted in the committee member’s name prior to moving the bill.
A presenter noted ADE produces numerous reports annually and that a thorough review would be labor intensive but appropriate to improve efficiency while preserving transparency. No members indicated opposition on the floor during this hearing.
The vice chair moved HB 2203 as amended; the committee adopted the amendment and recorded a due-pass recommendation. The bill now proceeds to further legislative consideration.
