The Mount Clemens City Commission approved a data-sharing agreement with the Southeastern Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) and accepted a FEMA grant to fund new mobile radios for the fire department.
City staff said the city received a $4,800 SEMCOG grant to have its engineering firm digitize and field-verify as-built and construction plans for underground infrastructure along federal-aid eligible roads; the digitized data will be shared with SEMCOG under the agreement. The commission authorized city officials to sign the data-sharing agreement.
Commissioners also approved purchases and payments of invoices and accepted a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters grant that awarded $47,611.42 to upgrade mobile radios under Capt. Shipman’s direction; the total value of the radios was stated as $59,000, leaving an approximate city match of $11,000.
Both items were approved by roll call as part of general business/consent items.
What it means: The SEMCOG project will improve the city’s digital infrastructure records for federal-aid roads; the radio upgrade is intended to modernize firefighter communications with grant support and a modest local match.
