The Mount Clemens City Commission authorized the Mount Clemens Downtown Development Authority (DDA) to host a Clinton River Live concert at Clinton River Park and Waterfront on a Saturday in September from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The DDA’s events coordinator and the organizer, identified in the agenda as Alexander Zonczak, said the event will include national and regional performers as well as local acts and youth involvement. Zonczak told commissioners he has organized similar riverfront events in multiple Southeastern Michigan communities and hopes the Mount Clemens event will become an annual (and potentially two-day) attraction if turnout is strong.
Officials noted the event footprint will stretch between the Crocker Boulevard bridge and the Market Street Bridge and that sponsors request use of the park to ensure public safety and event success. The DDA said the organizer owns local radio stations and television outlets and will assist with promotion.
After brief questions about logistics and promotion, the commission took a roll-call vote and approved the DDA’s request to use the park. Staff and the DDA will proceed with event permitting and operational planning, including public-safety coordination and any required street closures.
