A representative of the Mount Clemens Downtown Development Authority promoted the "Made in Michigan" festival downtown, noting 65 vendors and a children's business fair for ages 7–17 that will be held in the Cherry Street Mall on Saturday May 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nikki Weiss said Friday’s show runs 11 a.m.–8 p.m. and Saturday’s runs 10 a.m.–6 p.m., with entertainment including Roscoe the Clown at 11 a.m. and a spring fashion show at 1 p.m.
City staff reiterated those event listings during the city manager’s report, which included dates and times for the festival and other weekend events (Kiwanis bike rodeo, a Farmers Market Mother's Day event, and Art of the Year Awards application details). The city manager also noted Macomb Place will be closed between Main and Pine for the downtown events.
Commissioners used their comments to thank volunteers who participated in a downtown cleanup (including Mount Clemens High student volunteers), announced the return of the farmers market and Mount Clemens Bakery’s participation, and recognized student Dante Walker for academic achievements. One commissioner described a new pilot program at Mount Clemens High School called "I Choose," which aims to teach students healthy lifestyle choices to prevent chronic disease.
Officials encouraged public participation in downtown events and thanked local donors and volunteers for their support.
