Jamie Pearson was sworn in as chief of the Shakopee Police Department during the city council meeting on March 3. The clerk led Pearson in the oath of office to "support the Constitution of the United States" and the Minnesota Constitution and to "faithfully, justly, and impartially discharge the duties of the office of police chief of the city of Shakopee, Minnesota."
After taking the oath, Pearson said he was "really honored to be here" and that he takes the role seriously. He acknowledged former Chief Tate for mentorship and thanked family, community partners and colleagues for their support, saying, "I have a great team behind me, and I have no doubt that we're gonna continue to be successful." The mayor and council recognized the moment with applause and invited those present to remain for a group photo and the council meeting.
