Sedgwick County staff on March 11 reviewed several bid‑board procurement items and offered details on a planned change order and an e‑waste event contract.
Lindsay told commissioners the county is asking for a change order to set labor and support rates for the full upgrade to the financial (SAP) system and to maintain on‑demand support through the end of the calendar year; she said the change order does not define a total cost but sets rates for support work.
Public works procurement items included a 2026 high‑density seal bid that went to many vendors, pavement marking contracts awarded to the low bidder that met specifications, and a sole‑source maintenance agreement for an automated DNA extraction instrument at the Regional Forensic Science Center. Fleet purchases were noted for the sheriff: nine Ford Escapes and a set of all‑wheel‑drive Durangos, awarded to low bidders.
Staff also explained the e‑waste event contract’s pricing structure: the county pays per pound and a fee. A staff member said the per‑pound rate is 22¢ (or 24¢ depending on the line item) and that the per‑pound rate is the same as in 2024. Staff provided a historical comparison: a 2024 lump sum of $161,400 versus the current sum of $177,005.50.
Commissioners asked for context such as prior event pounds and cost structure; staff said the pricing and per‑pound rate are consistent with last year and that additional details could be provided if commissioners wanted comparative poundage data.
