Commissioners proclaim Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and Red Cross Month

The Morrow County commissioners issued two proclamations during the March meeting: one declaring March 2026 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and the other declaring Red Cross Month in Morrow County.

In the proclamation for developmental disabilities, the board noted the establishment of county boards of developmental disabilities by the Ohio General Assembly and cited that more than 300 people are served locally by the Marlborough County Board of Developmental Disabilities. A nonprofit representative described planned outreach, school reading programs and a single annual T-shirt fundraiser.

Commissioners also proclaimed March as American Red Cross Month, praising local volunteers with the East Central Ohio chapter for disaster relief, blood services and support for military members and families. Red Cross volunteers thanked the board for long-standing community support and highlighted the chapter’s contributions.

Both proclamations were approved by voice vote during the meeting. The proclamations are ceremonial acknowledgments and the transcript records expressions of appreciation and plans for school readings and community activities rather than new county programs or budgetary commitments.
