The Morrow County Board of Commissioners on March 27 approved a proclamation declaring April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and completed several routine administrative actions, including payment approvals and the reappointment of Don Lee to the county airport authority board.
Commissioner Abraham read the proclamation, which said that "there were 173 reports of abuse, neglect, and maltreatment investigated in Morrow County in 2023 affecting 431 children." The proclamation called on "citizens, community agencies, religious organizations, medical facilities, and businesses" to increase participation in prevention efforts and referenced the state’s "amended bill 165" as recognizing April for child abuse awareness.
The board moved and seconded the proclamation on the record and the clerk called the roll. Commissioner Abraham voted yes and Commissioner Mason voted yes; the proclamation was adopted. Commissioner Abraham made the motion to approve the proclamation and Commissioner Mason seconded.
In the same session the board approved a series of routine payments that the clerk read into the record, including payments from Chesterville, Huntsville and local customers, a second-quarter administrative fee from DKMM, rent for EMA services from Lincoln Township and WIC April rent from the Delaware County Health District. The board also approved the reappointment of Don Lee to the (transcript: "Wire County") Regional Airport Authority Board, and authorized the chairman to sign an ILO application for the county’s new Emergency Management Agency director.
The meeting moved on after the routine business; commissioners recessed and later returned to regular session before adjourning.
