Madison City Council approved a set of engineering resolutions on March 30 authorizing roadway and right‑of‑way work tied to school access and traffic improvements.
Engineering staff presented Resolution 2024006R, an MOU with the city of Huntsville to divide construction costs for two Slaughter Road project sites. Site 1 will extend the northbound left‑turn lane at Eastview and Slaughter to add stacking capacity and add a southbound right turn lane onto Eastview; Site 2 (near Roy Drive and Castle Drive) will add a southbound right turn onto Roy Drive and center‑turn lanes including a southbound left onto Castle. Council members moved and approved the resolution by voice vote.
Council then approved Amendment #1 with Kimley‑Horn Associates for project 22038 (Resolution 2024079R) to add a new signal at Berggreen and Hardiman to support construction of a nearby school, authorizing up to $2,500 for two legal descriptions and deeds for required right‑of‑way acquisition. Separately, the council authorized acquiring tract number 8 for Seager's Road and Maisel Drive improvements (Resolution 2024098R) with an acquisition amount of $4,020.51.
Councilmembers asked clarifying questions about the Slaughter Road work and thanked interjurisdictional partners; votes on the engineering items were taken by voice and approved.
