Copeland Middle School band director credits community, seeks fifth consecutive music-education honor for Rockaway Township

Bria Spotts, band director at Copeland Middle School, told the Rockaway Township Board of Education that the school’s band program is "truly an all inclusive experience" that helps students learn instruments, work toward common goals and overcome challenges.

Spotts said Copeland’s concerts are well attended and that the program connects with the community. She credited both community members and the Board of Education at Rockaway Township (reported here as the Rockaway Township School District) for support that she said contributed to the district being named a "best community in music education" for the past four years and for efforts to secure a fifth recognition.

"Band at Copeland is truly an all inclusive experience for the children," Spotts said. "They come in, they work towards a common goal through making music, learning their instruments, and overcoming challenges." She added that the district has been named a best community in music education for four years and that staff and community support have been integral to that achievement.
