Council approves annexation request for 16.79-acre reserve on County Road 698

Lake Jackson’s City Council approved a request to formalize annexation paperwork for a roughly 16.79-acre parcel at the far western end of County Road 698 during its March 2 meeting.

Staff said records indicate the parcel was originally annexed around 1973 but has not received extended utilities. A property representative explained the subdivision includes a drainage reserve required by the Angleton Drainage District and said the family has no immediate plans to extend utilities. “It had nothing to do with the City of Lake Jackson, but it is a reserve,” the representative said.

Staff told council the annexation will not trigger immediate utility service changes and recommended proceeding by drafting a letter and attaching meeting minutes.
