The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners used its March 3 meeting to reschedule multiple Planning & Zoning matters and to deliver a formal response to a City of Canton annexation notification.
The Board unanimously voted to postpone the public input meeting for Case Number '20Five-four-ninety9' to April 21 to meet the 30‑day re‑advertising requirement after the applicant requested a delay. Commissioner Cagle moved the postponement and Commissioner Wetherbee seconded.
Separately, the Board postponed a board‑initiated rezoning for Pea Bridal Land Investments (a 63‑acre property that has been the subject of prior denial and pending litigation) to March 17; Commissioner Cagle moved the postponement and Commissioner Carter seconded.
Staff also briefed the Board on a county notification from the City of Canton for a property at 2521 Reinhardt College Parkway (4.2 acres) where the applicant seeks annexation and rezoning to General Commercial with an accessory 40x60 storage building and 8–10 proposed employees. Staff said the site is adjacent to Canton, inside the growth boundary, and has no planned chemical storage or overnight equipment storage; GDOT review of access was noted. Commissioner Cagle moved that the county 'not object' to the city’s annexation and to provide staff feedback; the motion carried unanimously.
The actions set new hearing dates and asked staff to pass the county’s feedback to Canton officials.
