Cherokee County commissioners on March 3 approved multiple procurement and construction items across public works, parks and public safety.
The Board authorized a $980,236.11 third amendment to Arcadis U.S., Inc.’s design services agreement for right‑of‑way and final design for the I‑575 at Town Lake Parkway interchange. Staff said the overall interchange project is roughly a $13 million job, with GDOT expected to fund about 80% of right‑of‑way and construction costs; the county will complete design costs.
The Board approved an IT purchase of network switch replacement equipment for the Justice Center ($28,123.92), confirmed as budgeted in the 2026 operations budget.
Katz (a county department) was authorized to buy a 2024 BraunAbility Voyager ADA minivan under state contract for $70,007.50, funded 80% by an FTA grant ($62,406) and 20% SPLOST ($15,601.50); estimated delivery is May 2026.
Recreation & Parks received approval to purchase three vehicles with 'not to exceed' limits (2025 Ford F‑250 up to $54,000; 2026 Ford Maverick up to $29,700; 2026 Ford Explorer up to $39,500), funded from 2024 SPLOST. The Board also awarded a construction contract to Caliber I Construction, Inc. to build a raised amphitheater pavilion at Cherokee Veterans Park for $340,662 plus a $50,000 county contingency (total $390,662), funded from a right‑of‑way sale to GDOT.
Finally, the Board approved a sole‑source Motorola Solutions modification (SIP‑to‑SIP interface) for the E911 VESTA call‑handling system not to exceed $61,764.54 to support Next Generation 9‑1‑1 compatibility. Commissioners described the county as an early adopter of NG911 standards.
