Vice Chair Supervisor Paiske of the Lake County Board of Supervisors presented two proclamations designating March 8, 2026, as International Women’s Day and naming March 2026 as Women’s History Month, and the board adopted both proclamations during the meeting.
Supervisor Paiske read the International Women’s Day proclamation, noting that "women play a vital role in worldwide social, economic, cultural, political, and development" and listing ongoing challenges including barriers to education, pay gaps, higher health insurance premiums, inadequate family leave options and violence. "A day to celebrate the collective power of women. Past, present and future," Paiske said as she closed the reading and stated the proclamation was passed and adopted by the board.
The second proclamation commemorated Women’s History Month, recognizing American women’s historic contributions across race and class, their volunteer and civic leadership, and service in the military. "We have agencies, we have organizations, we have non profits... and all of you carry those voices every single day," Paiske said, thanking attendees and community leaders present for their service.
Chair closed the item after briefly thanking county women and staff. The transcript records the proclamations as "passed and adopted this March 2026," but it does not show a roll-call vote or record of a mover and seconder.
The presentations included invitations for honorees and community leaders to come to the stage; Supervisor Paiske noted Supervisor Owen was not present for the ceremony. The board moved on after closing the item.
