The Washington County Board of Commissioners on March 3 approved a draft letter asking the Association of Oregon and California Counties (AOCC, also referred to as ONC Counties) to represent the county in the Bureau of Land Management’s Western Oregon resource management plan revision.
Chair Catherine Marrington introduced the draft and said the letter asks that the cooperating-agency memorandum of understanding be routed to Erin Doyle of county staff. Commissioners indicated their agreement by showing “five thumbs up,” and Marrington said the signature would be applied and the letter sent via email as indicated.
The letter is aimed at formalizing county representation through AOCC as the BLM updates its Western Oregon resource management plans. County staff and the designated contact, Erin Doyle, will be the point of receipt for the cooperating-agency MOU, according to the board’s direction.
The board provided no additional amendments during the session and did not take a formal roll-call vote beyond the show of assent; staff indicated they would finalize the signature and transmit the letter by email.
The matter will proceed through the AOCC and the BLM process outside the board meeting; commissioners said they would raise the issue at their next regional association meetings as appropriate.
