The East Hampton Zoning Board of Appeals voted March 6 to approve several area-variance requests and to deny an administrative appeal by the Jewish Center of the Hamptons.
The board granted an application by 19 Hook Pond Lane LLC for area variances and a wetlands permit to construct additions, including approval for a brick patio and walkway with conditions, after a motion and roll call. The board likewise approved a request by 127 Main Street LLC to legalize a shower within a pool house and the accessibility of a detached garage, subject to conditions. The board granted an area variance for a roofed porch at 81 Mill Hill Lane (Robert J. and Karen DeFriest) and approved a special permit for structural alterations to a town building at 159 Panago Road for town governmental offices.
The panel denied an appeal of a building inspector’s determination filed by the Jewish Center of the Hamptons concerning 44 Woods Lane; the appeal dated 09/11/2025 was not sustained.
Roll-call voting during these determinations recorded affirmative votes from the members sitting on each matter. Board members noted absences at the start of the meeting (McGurk, Fitzsimons, Carmeli). The motions were introduced and seconded from the dais; staff recorded the results as the board polled members.
No further details or conditions beyond those stated at the meeting were provided for each approved matter during the session; members said conditions would be included in the permit language where applicable. The meeting then proceeded to continued and new hearings.
