At its March 4 meeting the Escambia County Contractor Competency Board voted to advance multiple probable-cause complaints to formal disciplinary hearings. The board moved a complaint concerning Right Now Roofing (respondent associated with Jackie Roberts) and the related Renovation Masters matter to a disciplinary hearing on April 1 after staff presented investigation exhibits and testimony from the homeowner and the roofing representative.
Separately, the board reviewed a complaint against Dustin A. Vaughn (doing business as Your Local Construction of the Emerald Coast), which alleges a registered residential contractor contracted beyond the residential scope by estimating and pursuing a commercial reroof at a Santa Rosa Island Authority building. Counsel for Vaughn said civil litigation is pending; the board declined to defer administrative action because the county’s scope focuses on whether the contractor contracted outside the license scope. The board set a disciplinary hearing for May 6 to allow staff and counsel time to prepare.
Staff told the board the permit and inspection histories and the investigators’ exhibits were entered into evidence for both matters. Board members discussed the difference between civil litigation and county disciplinary authority and emphasized the county’s role in determining license-scope violations under local code.
The scheduling actions do not impose penalties; they set the next procedural step and allow parties to present fuller evidence at disciplinary hearings.
