Butte-Silver Bow commissioners on March 4 placed on file an updated paratransit handbook that county staff said expands the transit boundary and formalizes rider rules and conduct. Public Works Director Mark Neri brought the handbook forward as communication 2026-6127 and the council voted 11–0 to concur and place it on file.
Public commenters told the council the expansion will help residents who previously fell outside the service area. Jean Tritor said she "originated this process" and turned in signatures collected from more than 170 supporters; she told commissioners, "Me and the 126 others thank you for your efforts." Cassie Wick, of Ability Montana, said the committee has long identified people who live just outside the boundary and that expanded service will allow riders to reach "really important appointments."
Commissioner Larry O'Leary, whose district is directly affected, thanked staff and the citizens who submitted signatures and moved to concur and place the communication on file. The clerk recorded the vote as 11 yay, 0 nay.
The handbook approval was handled as a consent-item action; staff and commissioners said additional route details and operational issues will be addressed in upcoming budget and service planning meetings.
