The Northwest District board discussed options for the district
nnual matching funds, which total roughly $7,500 remaining for the year. A resident proposed using funds to install an ADA curb ramp at the corner of 500 North and 800 West (identified as a key crossing for Timpanogos Elementary safe routes). City engineers estimated the work would cost about $4,000 and indicated the project is feasible.
Board members discussed alternatives including additional speed signs, street narrowing bollards, benches on the river trail and no-parking signage at certain intersections. A motion was made to support the ADA curb ramp project; the board voted by show of hands and the motion passed with no opposition recorded. Board members noted the remaining funds roll over and additional $7,500 is allocated on July 1, allowing future projects.
Next steps: The project manager identified on the application will complete the online grant form and the board will include the required meeting minutes showing community support. The board also agreed to consult parks staff before committing surplus funds to benches.
