The Bridgeport School District operations committee on March 4 referred a $157,544.64 contract for a new 2–5-year-old Playscape at Dunbar School to the full board for approval.
At the meeting Miss McCargill presented the project and said the district is using a cooperative purchasing contract with the vendor (vendor name appears in transcript variants) and that funding will come from the district’s repair and improvement project grant from the state. "It is in the amount of $157,544.64," she said.
A committee member asked whether the proposed contract included indemnification and liability protections and noted the draft referenced appendices and a master service agreement. A procurement staff member responded that the district requires certificates of insurance naming the city and that the cooperative contract is supplemented by the district’s own city contract and review by city attorneys.
Staff also described site work: the Playscape will be boxed in for safety from a nearby busy intersection and the project will reconstitute existing plantings. Staff said the Aspen Tuck Trust, which donated roughly $10,000 in plantings last year, may help maintain the gardens.
A committee member moved to refer the contract to the full board and the motion was seconded. The chair called for those in favor and members answered “Aye”; the referral will appear on the full-board agenda. The transcript does not record a roll-call vote tally.
The full board will now review the contract and any appended master service agreement or indemnification language before a final vote.
