The Beauregard Parish School Board voted on March 5 to approve Budget Revision No. 1 for the fiscal year ending 2026.
The motion to accept the revision was moved and seconded and carried on a voice vote. Board members did not record a roll-call tally in the transcript.
Superintendent-level finance staff summarized the district’s financial condition, saying, “As far as the financial statements go, revenues and expenditures are tracking in line with the approved budget.” The speaker added that current reports indicate revenues are being collected as anticipated and that expenditures are being managed, resulting in a stable fund balance.
The finance speaker drew the board’s attention to an unexplained variance between two sales-tax collection lines referenced in the packet—labeled in the materials as sales tax 66 (up) and sales tax 90 (down)—and said they had included copies of this year’s and last year’s collections for comparison. The finance official requested a reconciliation next month, noting that there is usually only about a 10% difference between those lines and that the current difference “caught my eye.”
The board chair closed the item after the finance remarks; no additional formal actions or conditions were attached to the vote.
Next steps: finance staff will provide the reconciliation and any supporting spreadsheets at the next monthly meeting for board review.
