The Beauregard Parish School Board approved several job-description changes on March 5 intended to formalize existing duties and comply with new state reporting requirements.
Personnel staff presented a new behavioral interventionist job description to convert long-term substitute duties into a permanent position that will work with students who have autism. The board moved and approved the behavioral interventionist description on a voice vote.
Personnel staff also presented a revised public information officer job description that adds district testing coordinator responsibilities and makes the PIO the coordinator for the district website and social media. The board approved that revision.
A supervisor-of-auxiliary-services description was amended to remove district testing coordinator responsibilities (those duties were shifted to the PIO), and the board approved that change as well.
Personnel staff explained the creation of a Personnel Secretary 3 title to meet new state reporting and data-entry requirements, including reporting employee minutes and handling Louisiana State Police background-check processes. Personnel staff emphasized that, according to their explanation, only two genuinely new positions were added: Personnel Secretary 3 and the behavioral interventionist; other changes reflect reclassification or redistribution of duties.
Personnel director (speaker 7) said, “This is a new job description. For the last 2 years, we have had long term subs performing these job responsibilities, and now we wish to make this a permanent position.” A staff clarifying remark added, “The only 2 new positions that we added today was personnel 3 and, behavioral instructions.”
All job-description changes were approved by voice vote; the transcript does not record roll-call tallies.
