The Missouri House on March 3 adopted a committee substitute for House Bill 20‑57 that would allow the city of Osage Beach at the Lake of the Ozarks to create an entertainment district, offering regulatory flexibility similar to existing districts elsewhere in the state.
The bill’s mover, the gentleman from Camden (speaker 27), described the measure as a technical fix to restore language omitted in earlier legislative action and as an economic development tool for the Lake of the Ozarks area. He said the concept mirrors successful entertainment districts such as Power & Light and Ballpark Village.
Several members spoke in support, emphasizing economic development and tourism benefits; the substitute was adopted and perfected and printed.
What’s next: With the House adopting and perfecting the substitute, the bill proceeds under House rules for any subsequent consideration.
