Shade Tree Commission seeks budget detail for Tree City USA application; downtown map request stalled

Commissioners reviewed requirements for maintaining Tree City USA status and said the application requires evidence of about $9,000 in tree-related spending or equivalent in-kind services. Committee member (S3) noted the application asks for specific line-item budget evidence; Chair (S2) said borough staff (Maggie) can compile an accounting of public-works labor and services that could be counted as in-kind contributions.

Separately, the commission discussed a downtown tree plan that has been delayed because engineering-sized maps requested from borough public works have not arrived. Commissioners agreed to nudge public works and to bring the issue to the infrastructure/public-safety committee so it will be recorded in that committee’s minutes and followed up.

No final application submission or mapping decision was made during the meeting; commissioners assigned follow-up tasks to request budget accounting and to prompt public works for the large downtown maps.
