The Alamogordo City Commission voted 7-0 Tuesday to adjourn into an executive session to conduct interviews for the city manager position, Mayor Sharon McDonald said as she opened the meeting at 5:30 p.m.
The commission approved the meeting agenda after a motion from Commissioner Mark Tapley and a second from Mayor Pro Tem Josh Reardon. The clerk recorded the vote as unanimous, 7-0.
Shortly after the agenda vote, Mayor McDonald announced that the commission would adjourn into a closed session “in compliance with 10-15-1(H)(2) NMSA 1978, as amended, to discuss limited personnel matters — whole city manager interviews,” and Commissioner Warren Robinson moved to enter the executive session. Commissioner Al Hernandez seconded the motion, which passed 7-0.
Before business began, Commissioner Warren Robinson gave the invocation and Commissioner Steven Burnett led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The transcript ends with the commission voting to enter executive session; the public portion of the meeting concluded at that point. The closed session was described on the record as limited personnel deliberations related to selecting or interviewing candidates for the city manager post.
