Miss Tippett presented three draft calendars for 2026–27 and said the district built them with a calendar huddle of parents, teachers, administrative staff and community leaders. The regular calendar shows the first day of school as Aug. 12 and the last day as May 27. The ATSI (after‑school/targeted summer instruction) calendar is structured to secure three‑quarters ADA funding for summer days and provides the required 25 days following the 175 student days; Tippett said those ATSI sessions are scheduled June 1–July 2 with two Saturdays allotted for enrichment activities.
Tippett also explained an early‑college calendar for 11th‑ and 12th‑grade students who attend Cedar Valley College: the presentation marks purple days when those early‑college students must attend Cedar Valley and yellow days when they are not required to be on the high‑school campus. She said Dallas College does not observe a fall break, so some early‑college students will be in class when LISD has a fall break; official attendance for early‑college students will be recorded during the advisory period from 10:40 to 11:25.
The presentation asks trustees to provide feedback via a linked survey; Tippett said staff will apply for 10 waiver days as part of the calendar implementation process.
