Fire department reports four calls in February and names new captain candidate

The Corinne Fire Department reported four calls for February: two within city limits and two outside, including one medical call, an illegal burn, a CO alarm and a vehicle accident. Department members described recent training on life packs and hands-on work with a new reporting system to replace the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The department said Engine 801 completed safety inspections and that mutual-aid agreements and an MOU with Box Elder County are in progress. The fire chief reported that Joseph Ritchie has been offered the open captain position; Ritchie has earned Fire 1 and Fire 2 certifications and hazmat operations training. A firefighter named Colby Nelson passed an EMT class and is working toward NREMT certification.

The department noted Corinne remains at moderate wildfire risk and reminded residents to clear excess debris. The council acknowledged the training accomplishments and ongoing equipment inspections and mutual-aid negotiations.
