Franklin board moves into closed session for personnel matters, later certifies and approves personnel agenda

The Franklin City School Board voted to enter a closed session on March 5 to discuss personnel matters, citing Virginia Code §2.2-3711(a)(1). The motion specified topics including new hires, supplemental employment, resignations, assignments, appointments, promotions, performance, discipline and salaries for specific public officers, appointees or employees.

A motion to enter closed session was moved and seconded and carried on a recorded vote. After the closed session the board returned to open session and, by motion and recorded roll call, certified that "only public business matters lawfully exempted by Virginia law were discussed" and that the items discussed were those identified in the motion to convene the closed session.
