Mineola trustees approve multiple contracts, water-service replacements and change orders

The Village of Mineola Board of Trustees on March 4 approved a series of routine but consequential municipal actions, including vendor contracts, water-service replacements and three change orders related to Well No. 4.

Trustees voted to award the public bid for uniforms to 8 Street Designs with funding drawn from the 2025–2026 general and water-fund budgets or reserve balances. The board authorized the lowest proposal for removal and replacement of nine water service lines on Wellington Road to Orchid Water and Sewer Contracting at a cost of $41,810, citing the work as part of the 2025–2026 road improvement area and as part of the village’s lead-and-copper efforts.

The board also approved a contract for stormwater management engineering and MS4 (municipal separate storm sewer) permit compliance with DMB Engineers and Architect (EPC) for $18,900, funded from the 2025–2026 general fund. In a separate water infrastructure discussion, trustees approved three change orders for the PTAS treatment at Well No. 4: change order #11 for replacement of pitted aluminum effluent piping ($3,255), change order #12 to install a solenoid valve enabling automatic SCADA control ($9,817), and change order #13 to add small-diameter piping required for start-up and testing ($16,088). The board discussed SCADA functionality and confirmed funding sources for those items.

A resolution authorizing installation of a handicap reserved parking space in front of 142 Andrews Road was also approved. Earlier in the meeting the board approved annual lump-sum payouts under the Village of Mineola service award program for volunteer fire department members and a $60 retroactive payment to a Millard volunteer firefighter, as presented by staff.
