Mountlake Terrace’s council used part of its March 5 meeting to recognize two Eagle Scouts and adopt a Women’s History Month proclamation.
Parks Supervisor Selena Williams presented certificates to siblings Isabel Green and William Williams. Green’s Eagle project, in partnership with Kids Need to Read and local partners, collected and distributed about 2,500 books (the presentation cited a face value exceeding $25,000) to benefit children in underserved communities, including donations to Briar Elementary. William led scouts to install an ADA-compliant picnic table and concrete pad adjacent to the Hazel Miller playground at Ballinger Park, a project the family dedicated to his grandfather, former mayor and longtime council member Roger Berg.
Council member Murray read a proclamation declaring March Women’s History Month for the city, highlighted the presence of four women on the council and invited the community to a March 29 screening of the documentary Girl Rising at the city library, co-hosted with Girl Scout troop 50529. Emily, a Girl Scout representative, thanked the council and noted the cookie program and Girl Scouts’ mission of leadership development.
The recognitions were ceremonial; no council action was required.
