Board upholds lead-related citation for 775 Logan Street after health department testimony

Mary Catherine Craft of the health department testified the agency received a pediatrician report showing an elevated level in August 2025 and said staff had struggled for months to obtain cooperation from the family despite multiple orders and field visits. Craft said the owner claimed the child did not live at the property but had not disclosed where the child lived.

Hearing officer Chris Wantland said the record shows a child with an elevated blood lead level was associated with the address and that the department had attempted outreach. Wantland upheld the citation and imposed a $1,000 fine.

The board did not explain a specific enforcement timeline in detail at the hearing beyond the fine; Wantland told the owner the board was not invoking a lien at that time and that staff would provide further instructions about next steps.
