Neighbors urge closure of Greenwood Avenue boarding operation; board dismisses shelter citation after inspection found no group-home operation

Neighbors told the Louisville Metro code enforcement board that 2115 Greenwood Avenue had persistent boarding-house activity, heavy vehicle traffic and incidents that worried parents and residents. Multiple neighbors described witnessing frequent comings and goings, numerous vehicles and incidents they said endangered children.

Code enforcement presented its inspection findings and said an interior inspection did not find evidence the property was operating as a boarding house under the local ordinance. Staff explained that zoning and shelter-license citations are distinct; the zoning concern had been closed after inspection but a shelter-license citation had been issued earlier.

After hearing testimony from neighbors and the property representative, the board found that the specific shelter-license citation before them did not meet the ordinance definition and dismissed that citation. Wantland told neighborhood speakers their concerns were on the record and advised them to call LMPD for criminal activity; he also encouraged informal neighbor outreach to the property owner and said the property could return to the docket if further violations were found.

The board’s dismissal did not preclude further inspection or enforcement if new evidence emerges.
