House honors legislative interns, hears brief student testimonials

The House of Representative recessed formal debate to welcome high school and college interns placed with the Legislative Service Office. Multiple interns addressed the chamber, thanked the LSO staff and their families, and described how the internship deepened their understanding of the legislative process.

Giancarlo Ferrero, a high school intern with the LSO, said the experience was "once in a lifetime" and thanked staffers, naming Mr. Keane and others for their support. Priscilla Martin, Malachi Lennon, Sarah Maynor, Kelly Joyce, Elise Newton and Edwin Morales each spoke about committee work, observation of floor proceedings, and how the placement shaped their civic interests and career plans. Several speakers said the experience increased their appreciation for the work of state government.

The Speaker thanked the interns for their service, noted they complete their internships the following day, and encouraged members to recognize their contributions. No formal action resulted from the recognition; the House returned to third-reading business afterward.
