Willacy County approves $22,900 purchase of 2.29-acre drainage easement for GLO CDBG-DR project

Willacy County Commissioners on March 5 approved acquiring a 2.29-acre drainage easement to support a General Land Office (GLO) CDBG-DR project (project code E204).

County staff described the purchase as land acquisition to create detention and retain stormwater as part of the E204 project. The easement covers tract 166, share 107 in Cameron County and the seller was identified in the record as Oscar and Ortencia family limited (family) entities. Staff said funds for the purchase will come from CDBG-DR land acquisition allocations.

Commissioner (S3) read the motion with the project identifier and purchase details. The judge acknowledged a motion and a second, and the court approved the purchase by voice vote. The transcript records the purchase amount as $22,900.

The purchase is intended to allow excavation and detention work necessary for the GLO project; staff noted the parcel crosses a county line geographically but is funded and administered as part of the project tied to the county’s CDBG-DR allocation.
