The court authorized County Judge Pedro Pita Revena Jr. to execute closing documents (Stewart Title file #2842652) for the purchase of 20.06 acres from Harry J. Mosier Jr. to support the county’s retention-pond project. Norma Salas, grant administrator, said this acquisition will be the second pond in the project and is located near the fairgrounds on County Road 129; the court approved the acquisition to move the grant project forward.
Separately, the court approved a one-year commercial lease renewal by and between Jim Wells County and Adrian Ramos / Industrial Eco Solutions Inc. for 1,062 square feet on the second floor of the Jim Wells County Resource Center. The rent is $1,050 per month (stated as $12,600 per year) and the agreement includes utilities except internet. Commissioners directed staff to prepare a comparative analysis of all Resource Center leases and bring recommendations about a consistent per-square-foot rate to a future commissioners’ court.
Both measures passed by voice vote during the Feb. 27 session; the judge said staff will report back with comparable lease data and the grant administrator will continue to support the retention-pond project.
