Ayesha Jamont Wilson, Community Services Coordinator for Menifee City, briefed the Parks and Recreation Commission on the department's memoranda of understanding and how they support city events and programs.
Wilson said the department currently holds formal MOUs with four organizations. The Art Council Metafi assists with the annual cultural arts calendar, helps judge the city's May Art Affair high‑school showcase and collaborates on grants and festival programming. The Lake Menifee Women's Club coordinates the Independence Day parade and related vendor and judging logistics and sponsors teen awards (Wilson said the program provides more than $1,600 in awards). The Menifee Valley Historical Association helps the city promote historical monuments and museum programs, provides presentations for youth programs, and staffs information booths at city special events. The department also has an agreement with VFW Post 1956 to provide veteran speakers, volunteers and a float for the Independence Celebration Parade; the city provides limited facility use to the post.
Wilson said the MOUs vary by partner but are generally three years in length and that the city provides facility space for some partners' recurring meetings. Commission members asked whether additional organizations were in discussion; staff replied that several MOUs are “in the works,” especially for programming tied to Central Park event space and expanded shared programming with Menifee Unified School District.
The commission did not remove any consent calendar items that included these materials and approved the consent calendar by a voice motion during the meeting. The presentation concluded with Wilson inviting questions and noting staff would defer on details to colleagues when needed.
