Beaufort County will conduct inspections of multiple bridges along the Spanish Moss Trail beginning Tuesday and running through Friday, March 13, county officials said in the county bulletin.
Kyla Williams, the presenter on the Beaufort County community bulletin, said the county’s consultant, McSweeney Engineers LLC, will station vehicles and equipment at bridge locations including Alberghati, McCallies and Battery Creek as crews conduct inspections. "Vehicles and equipment will be at bridge locations," Williams said in the bulletin, and the county asked the public to use caution while in the area.
Officials said all locations will remain open during inspections but that some sections may need to be closed temporarily while work takes place. Trail users should expect to encounter personnel and equipment on or near the bridges, and motorists and bicyclists are asked to slow down and follow any posted guidance.
A full press release is available on the Beaufort County website at beaufortcountysc.gov/news; the county bulletin provided that web address for additional details and specific timing.
The inspections are scheduled to finish on March 13, and the county encouraged anyone with questions or concerns to consult the press release or contact county public works for more information.
