The Mount Clemens City Commission opened, solicited comment on, and closed a second public hearing on the downtown maintenance special assessment program on Dec. 21 and then confirmed special assessment roll number 21‑01.
Mayor Cropp opened the hearing on the downtown maintenance program and invited public comment limited to the assessment. No members of the public offered testimony specific to the downtown maintenance assessment during the hearing. A commissioner requested a list of downtown development authority (DDA) area businesses that were in arrears on 2019 assessments and staff said the document could be provided at a later date.
Commissioner Fournier moved to close the public hearing, and Commissioner Menzer later moved to confirm special assessment roll number 21‑01. The commission carried the confirmation on a roll call vote with the commissioners present voting yes.
The commission noted the hearing process and will provide requested arrears information to commissioners who asked for it.
