The Board of Examiners for Nursing approved two departmental requests on March 4: a correction to a memorandum of decision in the Jennifer Shad matter and a modification of a probation consent order for Alexa M. Paola that will lift her summary suspension.
Department counsel said the Jennifer Shad memorandum needed to be corrected so it reflects the board's earlier order to extend employer reports and monitoring and to include an omitted Attachment A. Respondent counsel raised no objection and the board voted to affirm the modification to the memorandum of decision.
In Paola's case the department described a positive ETG urine screen during probation. The proposed modification restarts the four‑year probation period, adds clearer monthly therapy attendance requirements for the first and last year and clarifies urine-screening instructions (including advice to avoid beverages labeled as nonalcoholic that may contain alcohol). Respondent's counsel indicated she had discussed the modification with her client and supported the terms. The board voted to approve the modification and to lift the summary suspension on the respondent's license.
