The Cocoa Beach City Commission approved several municipal items at its March 5 meeting, including the Downtown Cocoa Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) 2025 report, multiple consent-agenda items and the second-reading adoption of an ordinance regulating temporary signs.
During the CRA segment staff noted Devin Talley, deputy finance director, as the staff representative for the 2025 downtown CRA report. The commission voted to approve the CRA recommendation after a motion and second; the motion passed without recorded opposition.
On the consent agenda the commission approved minutes from the Feb. 19, 2026 meeting and several administrative and contracting items: renewal of agreements with Brevard County Ocean Rescue for lifeguard services in 2026; ratification of a memorandum of agreement for a wage reopener between the City of Cocoa Beach and IAFF local (period specified in the staff report); and the appointment of Dean Patterson to the police pension board with a term through April 2028. Staff representatives for items included Justin Grimes (fire chief) and Cindy Depena (director of human resources), as read into the record by the meeting officer. The consent agenda passed on a unanimous voice vote.
In unfinished business the commission adopted Ordinance 17-11 on final reading, an amendment regulating temporary signs (amending section 5-04). The ordinance was read into the record by staff and adopted by roll-call vote with all members voting "aye." No public comments were offered during the ordinance hearing.
The meeting adjourned following the vote.
