Superintendent Dr. Eric Bicotz used the Wednesday Word to share several community updates: results-review and prizes from a district survey, upcoming student theater performances, a countywide education and career fair, a grocery-store fundraising drive for school meals, and the district’s committee meeting calendar.
On the climate, culture and engagement survey, Dr. Bicotz thanked families: “Your honesty and insight are invaluable as we work to improve our students educational experience and strengthen our school community.” He said responses are being reviewed and added, “If you are 1 of the winners randomly selected to receive a $50 gift card, we will contact you by this Friday.”
On student performances, Dr. Bicotz announced Penwood Theater Club’s Matilda Junior with shows on an evening and a Saturday matinee (March 14) and said Pennwood High School’s production of High School Musical 2 has been postponed until April. He also encouraged attendance and noted tickets are available via a link referenced in the district message.
The district said the DCIU will host a Delaware County education and career fair on Wednesday, March 25, bringing representatives from all 15 Delaware County school districts and the district’s HR team to recruit teachers, paraeducators, office staff and custodial staff. Families and job-seekers were directed to the district calendar for more information.
Dr. Bicotz also asked families to continue rounding up purchases at the Alden and Lansdowne Giant locations through March 31 as part of a feeding school kids program; the transcript stated WPSD will receive funds and that Giant will match donations. He closed by listing committee meetings on March 3 (Property), March 5 (Policy), March 11 (Education) and March 16 (Committee of the Whole), all starting at 6:30 p.m., with links on the district calendar.
No new policy changes or budget votes were announced in these items; the segments were presented as informational updates and community outreach opportunities.
