Representatives of local community groups and county offices used the public‑comment period at the March 4 meeting to highlight upcoming events and volunteer needs. David (S4), treasurer for CollectSentials Pink, described plans for the Kids Go Pink Carnival on July 10 at Hillside and an associated race on Aug. 15. He said organizers have arranged about 245 regular parking spaces and roughly 400 overflow/car‑pool spaces, are coordinating volunteers and may use Keystone University athletes to assist with traffic control.
David said organizers are contacting property owners along the route about potential short closures and will provide letters of insurance and cleanup responsibility to any landowners whose properties are used. "We have 245 spots available... We have 400 in overflow, spots available," he told the council.
Earlier in the public comment period, Cordelli (S6) representing Lackawanna County promoted several spring opportunities: the county conservation district’s 2026 seedling sale (order/payment deadline March 31; pickups April 17–18), a lifeguard hiring notice for four parks, an April 25 Earth Day event at Dave Park and a May 16 Armed Forces Day parade downtown. Cordelli also highlighted a free property‑fraud protection program for residents.
