Fire Chief Robert Patterson told the Board of Safety that battalion chief Joe Conasek applied for and the department received a $6,000 Enbridge Fuel Futures grant to replace nozzles on engines and related equipment.
"We were awarded the grant for $6,000 and we'll be replacing all our nozzles on all of our engines," Chief Patterson said, thanking the battalion chief for applying. The board offered brief acknowledgement.
During public comment, Georgie Ann Gladys, speaking for the nonprofit Logan's Love, thanked the police and fire departments for support and announced the group's 2026 schedule: an Easter egg hunt at Reeder Park on March 28, a golf outing in June, and an autism walk in August. Chief Sormoz said the departments would post event details.
Next steps: Fire Department staff will proceed with procurement related to the grant-funded nozzle replacements; Logan's Love plans to coordinate publicity with department social channels.
